Young Thug Hit With New Indictment, Ashanti Responds To Ja Rule Comments Amidst Irv Gotti Drama
The Wrap Up with L’Orèal Luchi, keeping you informed on everything that happened in hip hop culture this week:
Young Thug:
Young Thug is facing multiple new charges. After his first RICO arrest in May, Atlanta police raided his home and found several firearms, including a machine gun, which led to the new 95-page indictment. The district attorney believes the new charges add to the prosecution's claim that Young Thug operated as a leader of a criminal street gang for years. Brian Steel, Young Thug's attorney, maintains that his client is innocent and looks forward to fighting the charges in court. Trial date is set for January 9, 2023.
A$AP Rocky:
A$AP Mob member A$AP Relii claims A$AP Rocky shot him multiple times. Relii accused Rocky of luring him to an "obscure location" in central Hollywood "to discuss a disagreement between the two of them."
As reported by the Wrap Up, Back in May, Rocky was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and was released from jail after posting a $500,000 bond. The incident was caught on surveillance video. Rocky hasn't been charged, and his court date is set for August 17.
Pete Davidson:
Kanye West celebrated the breakup of his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and Pete Davidson. In a since-deleted Instagram post, he shared a photoshopped NY Times article with the headline, "SKETE DAVIDSON DEAD AT AGE 28." There's been a lot of public drama, and as a result, Pete is reportedly trying to find peace, going to trauma therapy.
Fivio Foreign:
Is Mase Diddy 2.0? Mase admitted he gave Fivio a $5,000 advance, which led to a deal with Columbia Records, resulting in $750,000 for Fivio. There seems to be confusion on how much money Mase invested in Fivio before the Columbia deal was made. While Fivio was promoting an upcoming single that samples Ma$e's 1997 classic "What You Want" featuring Total, in the text of the video, Fivio wrote, "Single-handedly bringing N-ggas bacc to life."
Irv Gotti:
Irv Gotti caught heat for airing out his romantic relationship with Ashanti on NORE's Drink Champs. The alleged affair occurred during his 10-year marriage to Debbie Lorenzo. Fat Joe called him a sucker and criticized him for speaking about the past.
Fat Joe called Ja Rule out for not sticking up for Ashanti during the drink champs interview. Ja rule responded and said he did. Ashanti showed love to Ja Rule's post about her, so it's seemingly all good. That's not the case between Irv and Joe. See Irv's complete response.
Drake:
Drake scored his first Emmy nomination for his executive producer role on the HBO series, Euphoria.
