Girl Power! Female Hip-Hop Artists Who Have Landed In The Number 1 Spot!

A huge congratulations go out to Lizzo for her single ‘Truth Hurts’ landing in the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. For those of you who don’t know, the single was originally released in 2017 and made its way up the charts. The ‘Truth Hurts’ artist joins the list of other dope females who have also landed in the number one spot on the music charts.
Cardi B:
Cardi B. became the fifth female hip-hop artist to climb to the number on the Billboard 200 Hip-hop charts for her album “Invasion of Privacy”.
Missy Elliott:
Missy Elliott has been paving the way and setting trends for over two decades, and her multiple awards and accomplishments say so. In 2001, 2002, and 2007 the Virginia native landed in the number one spot on the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop charts for her songs ‘Get Your Freak On’ and ‘Work It’ and for being featured on Keyshia Cole ‘Let It Go’.
Lauryn Hill:
There is without question that 1998 was a great year for Lauryn Hill. Not only did she release her debut album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’, the album landed in the number one spot on the Billboard charts and she also won 5 Grammy Awards the following year.
Nicki Minaj:
Nicki Minaj had two albums to land in the number one spot, simultaneously. In 2011 for “Pink Friday”, and 2012 for “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.”
