Former President Donald Trump was indicted by a grand jury.
According to reports, Trump reportedly brokered a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election. Stormy was reportedly going to go public about an affair she had with Mr. Trump in 2006. The former President's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, said he was at the center of the deal and gave Stormy the money- which he was later reimbursed by the Trump Organization. Donald Trump died those allegations and says that both Michael and Stormy are "liars."
Trump has responded to the indictment and says it is a “political persecution." He also says, "the Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable — indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference.”
Trump's lawyer says in a statement, “what was once the most respected and revered district attorney’s office in the nation has been fully bastardized by an opportunistic politician seeking, like many others, to cash in on the Trump brand,” Kise said. “The complete lack of legal basis, coupled with the politically targeted nature of the prosecution, should strike fear into every citizen in this country irrespective of their views of President Trump.”
The former President is expected to return to NYC and turn himself in.
