Diddy Makes Surprise Visit to Charter School He Donated $1M Towards Opening
Sean Combs can't stop, won't stop giving back to the community.
On October 18th, Sean "Diddy" Combs surprised students at Capital Preparatory Bronx Charter School to promote an education-forward message for the upcoming school year.
The Capital Preparatory school system, which started in 2005, offers a college preparatory curriculum for grades 6-12. Currently there are four campuses - two in New York and two in Connecticut.
According to BX Times, Diddy showed up unannounced to the school he co-founded and donated $1 million to help open. He was greeted with joyful yells and high fives from a room of about 150 students.
Diddy shared with CBS about what being a co-founder of a school for black children meant to him. "It was something that was always a dream for me and a passion, and I'm just blessed that it was able to happen". He added, "I think it's having an impact. I mean, not I think, I know it's definitely having an impact on the community, so it's a dream come true."
The Capital Preparatory Bronx Charter School opened in 2020 in partnership with Sean “Diddy" Combs. School officials say that since opening, they have had a 100% success rate with college admittance.
