After a one year hiatus due to the pandemic, Summer Jam returned in 2021 in August for the first time in history! Just like any Summer Jam, this day was full of surprises.Tropical storm Henri hit us hard with non-stop rain between Saturday and Sunday. Due to those conditions, HOT 97 had to make the unfortunate decision to cancel Festival Village to ensure safety of all parties working the show as well as fans. That did not stop us though!https://www.instagram.com/p/CS5RJEtFXdV/Doors opened at 5:16 PM EST, as fans started to roll in despite the rain. Not soon afterwards Saweetie hit the stage to perform some of her biggest hits. She was followed by Megan Ryte who brought some friends that got the dancehall vibes on early at Metlife Stadium. Kranium performed his hit "Nobody Has To Know", Capella Grey came out with his hit single "Gyalis", and the big surprise Mavado! She wasn't done yet though! She then brought out A$AP Ferg with an energetic performance of "Plain Jane."https://www.instagram.com/p/CS5Pf-el1j5/The energy got even greater as Polo G hit the stage for a performance of "RAPSTAR" and more!https://www.instagram.com/p/CS5VFJ_F4nH/Some other big surprises last night included members of the Wu Tang Clan, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon, who came on the stage to support their fellow Staten Island native CJ in an explosive performance that also included Dembo/Reggaeton artists El Alfa and Farruko.https://www.instagram.com/p/CS5cW_5FXhu/https://www.instagram.com/p/CS5hnilrbB5/Laura Stylez and Megan Ryte then got on the stage to announce Moneybagg Yo who came with some surprises of his own including EST GEE, and 42 Dugg! After Drewski got the crowd rocking with surprise guests Maliibu Miitch Shenseea, and Rotimi, Ebro in the Morning's Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Rosenberg got on the stage to introduce one of the biggest highlights of the night as Swizz Beatz gave a tribute to DMX.https://www.instagram.com/p/CS5myjDFYbF/As the sun set, the producer brought the energy in the stadium to another level! He apologized for his comments on stage and thanked HOT 97 for his having his back and giving him an opportunity to perform on the stage. He lived up to the nickname "Live Show Killa" as he even went into the crowd who were still being soaked up in the rain for a more intimate performance.https://www.instagram.com/p/CS5s0wrFJ9Y/Following the excitement, Meek Mill hit up the stage and started up his performance with his classic intro track "Dreams and Nightmares."The surprises weren't over yet!
