Drake's Dad Races To His Defense & Takes Aim At Kendrick Lamar
Drake's dad, Dennis Graham, appears to have rushed to his son's defense amid his ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar.
On Monday (March 25), following the release of Future and Metro Boomin's new album, WE DON'T TRUST YOU, featuring K. Dot's blistering diss on "Like That," DG posted Drake's More Life album cover art (2017) — which famously used his likeness — and expressed sarcasm towards Future and Metro's new project.
"Yo, I am about to drop some new music and I am not sure if it’s going to sell, but I am going to call some of my homies, and get them to start a beef with Drake, and get them to unfollow him, and that’s going [to] make my shit shoot up to No. 1," he wrote wrote via Instagram, shading rappers for resulting to beef to sell records. "I’m sure this is going to work, so let me get some people on board for this and watch what kind of attention this gets! I will be No. 1 one day!"
The release of the dynamic duo's latest collaborative offering reignited a flurry of conspiracy theories within the Hip Hop community surrounding a potential fallout between Future and Drake in addition to the long-debated concept of the "big three."
On the track, Kennny delivers the iconic line: “Think I won’t drop the location? I still got PTSD/ Muthafuck the big three, n-gga, it’s just big me/ N-gga, bum, what? I’m really like that"
He then appears to reference Prince and Michael Jackson's former, long-standing rivalry, rapping: "And your best work is a light pack/ N-gga, Prince outlived Mike Jack."
The discussion first gained traction when J. Cole referenced himself, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake in "First Person Shooter" last October. He cemeted his status at the top of the rap game, by likening himself to the legendary Muhammad Ali.
“Love when they argue the hardest MC/ Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me?/ We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali,” he rapped.
On the flip side, Drake subtly shaded Kendric by asserting that he and Cole alone hold the title of "greatest of all time."
“Who the G.O.A.T.? Who you bitches really rooting for?/ Like a kid that act bad from January to November, n-gga, it’s just you and Cole,” he spit.
Regarding rumors of tension between Future and Drake, Metro took to X/Twitter on Sunday (March 24) to refute such claims, writing, "Y'all stop making stuff up for engagement and enjoy the music."
Appearing to respond to the diss that same day, during his second show at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, Drake addressed the crowd, saying: "A lot of people asking me how I’m feeling."
He continued, “I got my head up high, my back straight. I’m 10 fuking toes down in Florida or anywhere else I go. And I know no matter what there’s not a n-gga on this Earth that could ever fuck with me in my life.”
