Derek Chauvin Denied Motion For New Trial, Still Awaiting Sentencing

Derek Chauvin will NOT get a new trial. A judge ruled yesterday (June 24).In addition, the judge denied Chauvin’s request for a hearing on misconduct, possibly from jurors. The judge ruled his lawyer didn’t prove the jury lied during the selection process, The Jasmine Brand reports. Today (June 25), the former Minneapolis police officer is scheduled to be sentenced today for the murder of George Floyd. Prosecutors want Chauvin to get 30 years behind bars.
